Job description
Tucked away in a series of underground vaults beneath a grassy pasture, the Jasper Hill affinage and production team turns and brushes cheeses, salting them, spiking them, washing them in brine, all to transform them from young, fresh wheels into some of the country’s most celebrated artisan cheeses. We blend centuries-old cheese ripening techniques with the latest scientific understanding in order to coax the highest possible expression from our cheeses. The work is fast-paced and often physical, but allows the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team that’s committed to the highest standards of quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Caring for cheese: receiving, turning, packaging and everything in between
Maintain a clean working environment; contribute to ongoing cleaning and maintenance schedules
Follow all food safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Detail- and process-oriented
Able to learn quickly, ask questions, share concerns, seek answers and problem solve
Computer literate
Ability to work on your feet for long stretches, and lift 45+ pounds
Love of artisan cheese a plus!
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
