Job description

The Field Manager oversees growing in high and low tunnels, is one of the farm’s primary tractor operators during the growing season, and takes the lead role in managing the Winter CSA program under the direction of the Farm Manager. Excellent communication and listening skills and willingness to work cooperatively with other farmers is a must. Applicants should be able to sustain focus through repetitive tasks with an upbeat and positive attitude, and be prepared to do strenuous physical work in all weather conditions.

Requirements:

-At least 3 to 5 experience working on a vegetable farm operating tractors, with minimum 1 year of management experience.
-Ability to lift 50 lbs and spend up to 7 hours per day working outside as necessary.
-Able to prioritize workload and have flexibility.
-Active learner, critical thinker, and strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
-Self-starter, able to work independently and as a team.
-Alignment and commitment to WFCF’s mission with an interest in local sustainable agriculture, food access, and education.
-Very strong organizational skills and ability to manage more than one task at a time in a focused manner.
-Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
-Comfortable interacting with volunteers, CSA members and other farm visitors.

Schedule:

This is a 10 to 11 month seasonal position that is full time during the main season and reduces to part-time (24 hour/week) during the Fall and Winter seasons.

April through October: Monday - Friday, 5 days, 35 hours per week.
November through mid-December: 4 days, 24 hours per week.
January through mid-February: TBD as needed to manage the Winter CSA

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
