Burlap & Barrel is a single origin spice company and Public Benefit Corporation. We work directly with smallholder farmers to source unique and beautiful spices for home cooks and chefs. We are building new international spice supply chains that are equitable, transparent and traceable.
Since the company was founded nine years ago, we’ve built a global network sourcing over 100 incredible spices from smallholder farmers across 30 countries. We have a thriving DTC business, as well as a robust wholesale program across retail, specialty, foodservice, and bulk channels.
Job description
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Foodservice Sales Manager will be responsible for growing Burlap & Barrel’s foodservice business through a mix of field sales, distributor engagement, events, and account development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Account Development
- Develop and execute foodservice sales plans aligned with company goals
- Build and manage relationships across the foodservice landscape:
- Foodservice operators (multi-unit, independent restaurants, hospitality)
- Distributor channels (rep trainings, ride-alongs)
Chef partnerships (relationship building, chef education)
- Bulk sales (pipeline development, outreach, account maintenance)
Distributor & Field Engagement
- Train distributor sales representatives
Conduct ride-alongs and market visits
- In person restaurant visits and product pitching
Events & Brand Representation
- Manage event logistics, including travel, shipping, and samples
- Represent the brand with professionalism and enthusiasm at all times
- Build strong relationships with event organizers, staff, and customers
- Set up and manage event displays that reflect our brand’s look and feel
- Engage chefs and distributor sales representatives by telling our brand story
- Train distributor sales representatives on our brand and spices
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent interpersonal and storytelling skills; enjoys connecting with people
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently while on the road
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and set up event materials
- Comfortable with extensive travel and flexible scheduling
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel nationwide
- Experience in field sales, event marketing, or brand ambassador work for a food brand preferred
