Frontieress Farm is a small, diverse market farm in Fairbanks, Alaska. We embrace chemical and pesticide-free growing practices that emphasize soil health and biodiversity. We operate on about 2 acres, on two separate field sites. We grow a large variety of vegetables and specialty cut-flowers that are sold directly to consumers through CSA memberships and local farmer’s market. We are passionate about feeding and flowering our community and truly believe in the net-positive environmental, social, and economic impacts that small agriculture can have.

Job Qualifications
We are looking for positive, hard-working, self-aware individuals interested in small farming in Alaska! Applicants should be in both good physical and mental condition. This means, a desire to work on a small farm and the physical fitness to handle repetitive farm tasks for consecutive hours (i.e. bending, squatting, lifting, kneeling, standing). You must be able to lift 50lbs. We work in all weather conditions, so a sense of humor and patience is always helpful. You must be able to commit to working the entire growing season (May- end of September). You should be able to work quickly and efficiently, alone and in a small group. We’re typically a small crew of one to three. Good communication, as well as the ability to listen and follow directions is essential. Ideal candidates have farming experience, and/or experience with manual labor.
Job Description
- Greenhouse seed sowing, watering and up-potting plants
- Prepping fields: clearing debris, laying landscape fabric and irrigation, broad-forking, hauling wheelbarrows of compost and field amendments, and transplanting
- Weed cultivation with by hand or with small tools
- Harvesting, washing, and packing veggies
- Harvesting and arranging flowers
- Possibility to man our Wednesday Farmer’s Market booth
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle to make it to and from our field sites
Job Details
- Both Full time (Monday- Friday 9-5) and Part time (Monday – Friday 9-1) positions available
- $16-$19 hr, depending on experience, plus weekly veg
- We do not have on-site housing but can assist in finding a place in the Fairbanks area
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
