Company description
Justine’s on Hudson is a wine-driven neighborhood restaurant rooted in terroir, seasonality, and thoughtful hospitality. Our entire wine program is drawn from the Rosenthal Wine Merchant portfolio, and both our food and wine are approached through a shared lens of place, producer, and a deep respect for the dining experience.
Job description
We are seeking a General Manager/Wine Director who is comfortable leading a small but mighty team and stewarding a serious wine program. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives on the floor, collaborates closely with ownership, and maintains the rhythm and integrity of service. A true appreciation and understanding of wine is essential ... this role requires comfort discussing producers, regions, and winemaking philosophies, and the ability to bring that knowledge to life through thoughtful, engaging hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee front-of-house service, setting the tone for warm, informed, and consistent hospitality
- Serve as a knowledgeable presence on the floor, guiding guests through our terroir-focused wine list and supporting staff education and confidence
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen and ownership to ensure alignment between food, wine, and service
- Manage FOH operations and backend administration, including staffing, scheduling support, service flow, and menu and wine list organization
- Support private dining and event inquiries as needed (coordination and execution, not a primary sales role)
- Foster a respectful, professional, and team-oriented work environment
- Assist occasionally with social media or content capture, highlighting the dining room, wines, dishes, and special moments when appropriate
Ideal Candidate
- Has a strong understanding and appreciation of wine; familiarity with the Rosenthal Wine Merchant portfolio a major plus
- Prior FOH management or leadership experience in a quality-driven restaurant
- Calm, organized, and detail-oriented, both on the floor and behind the scenes
- Communicates clearly and works well with existing staff and ownership
- Values hospitality that is genuine, informed, and unpretentious
Why Justine’s
- A close-knit team with high standards and mutual respect
- A singular wine program grounded entirely in one of the world’s most respected importer portfolios
- An environment that prioritizes the food and wine experience over trends
- Opportunity to grow alongside a restaurant deeply connected to growers, producers, and place
Compensation
this position is: salaried, $75,000 - $100,000
