Job description

Gem Home, Flynn McGarry's daytime cafe and bakery, is looking for a head chef to oversee our savory food program and all event culinary needs.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Showing up to work on time with specified uniform
• Keeping order lists up to date
• Placing daily orders for food items, paper / packaging good, and beverage items
• Keeping prep lists up to date
• Managing menu changes
• Managing master recipe bible
• Liaising with dishwashers and managing dishwasher scheduling
• Liaising with cooks and managing cook scheduling
• Educating, coaching and growing new cooks
• Ensure all health standards are met on a daily basis
• Providing oversight and quality control throughout all services present
• Covering line cook and prep positions as needed
• Attending weekly meeting with Chef / Owner and Director of Operations
• Participating with monthly P&L review
• Organizing weekly deep clean
• Organizing and controlling costs for daily family meal
• Communicating new dishes for menu printing
• Coordinating pars for linens to Director of Operations

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 2-3 years in a back of house management role
• NYC Food Handlers license
• Ability to work a flexible schedule

Compensation

this position is: salaried, $75,000 - $100,000
