Established in 2017, Moon River Farm is a small, certified organic vegetable farm in Nehalem, OR. Each year we grow over 50 different vegetables, from May through February. Our produce is available through our weekly CSA/farm stand, the Manzanita Farmers Market, and at select local restaurants.

Job description

Farm crew: 1-2 part time and full time positions open
Seasonal farm crew members are vital to the success of the farm.

Duties include:

• Harvest, wash, and pack produce for our weekly sales outlets.
• We will train you on our high quality, cleanliness and consistency standards for our veggie products. You will play a crucial role in maintaining those standards.
  Field work
• Planting, bed prep, weeding, fertilizing, trellising , pruning, etc.

There is a heavier emphasis on field work during the shoulder seasons, and more harvest/wash/pack during the main summer season. The weekly work flow adjusts accordingly.

This work is fast paced, we use sharp knives, and harvest a lot of food in a day. It is fun and satisfying skilled work. As with all skills, you will build proficiency with effort and time.

You may also be scheduled to work at our farmers market booth in Manzanita or at our weekly farm stand/CSA pickup. These shifts consist of packing and unpacking the van, setting up the booth, selling vegetables, chatting with customers, breaking down the display, and unloading back at the farm.

Farm Crew Details:

• Shifts are approximately 8-9 hours with a 30-45 minute lunch break.
• Field/harvest days 8am-4/5pm (weather and season may shift start and end time earlier or later)
• Market day 1pm-8:30pm
• CSA/Farmstand/Delivery 11:30am-7pm
• Rolling start date from mid March to Late May
• End date: late November
• Full season commitment required
• Pay starts at $17/hr DOE with possible raise after training
• Weekly CSA share included
• extra vegetables when available
• $150 gear stipend after training completed
