Position Description
Community Farmers Markets is seeking a full-time Senior Manager of Operations to further propel our mission through managing the logistics and operations of our weekly farmers markets, special events projects, and administrative duties in a collaborative team environment.
The Senior Manager of Operations ensures that CFM’s markets and programs run smoothly, staff feel supported, vendors are set up for success, and operational systems remain efficient, compliant and in alignment with our strategic plan. This role is essential to maintaining high-quality market experiences for communities, partners, and stakeholders.
Role Overview
The Senior Manager of Operations plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and mission-aligned operation of CFM’s markets and programs, including Grant Park, Oakhurst, EAV and Decatur Farmers Markers, as well as pop-up and free produce markets. This position oversees administrative functions, market coordination, market staff and vendor management, and facilitates operational reporting, while serving as a key point of contact for market staff, vendors, and strategic partners. Candidates must be available to start no later than March 10th.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Market Coordination & Planning
- Lead market managers in coordinating Market Plans and oversee the updates to the CFM calendar, including market dates, fundraising events, at-market activations, and internal meetings.
- Maintain strong relationships with all host sites and market locations.
- Oversee the ordering and management of all operational supplies.
- Coordinate with market managers to cancel markets as needed in accordance with the Weather Policy.
- Work with the Leadership Circle and Development team to facilitate pop-up market sales.
- Implement and oversee Corporate Pop-Up Markets.
Collaborate with Lead Market Manager to write, review, and enforce SOP’s and policies for all markets.
Market Staff Leadership and Management
- Supervise the Lead Market Manager and provide ongoing guidance and support.
- Manage full-time Market Managers and part-time/seasonal Assistant Market Managers.
- Collaborate with Leadership Circle to lead onboarding and training for all market staff, with ongoing training and leadership development as needed.
- Review and approve market staff hours on a bi-weekly basis.
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews and/or check-ins for market staff.
- Attend and support CFM markets during the designated market season.
- Support a collaborative, organized, professional, data driven, hospitable and highly accountable team culture.
Vendor Management & Support
- Oversee Lead Market Manager in the coordination of coordinate vendor application and acceptance processes for full-season and Winter Market vendors in collaboration with Market Managers.
- Collaborate with Leadership Circle to manage the Grant Park Farmer Advisory Board.
- Plan and host vendor appreciation events.
- Manage CFM’s Vendor Support Program in collaboration with Market Management and Leadership Circle
- Serve as a resource for vendors regarding market operations, policies, and facilitate vendor support as needed and appropriate.
- Oversee Lead Market Manager in weekly token reimbursements for each market.
Administrative & Reporting
- Oversee ongoing internal and external data reporting to measure impact, communicate to funders, and report on grants.
- Manage weekly Wholesome Wave Georgia tracking and other market performance metrics.
- Manage and respond to CFM “info” email inbox and phone inquiries.
- Work with the team to keep the office space organized and office supplies stocked.
- Develop and implement strategies for continual improvement of organizational efficiency and internal systems.
Experience & Qualifications
- Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Minimum of three years of experience in organizational management, business administration, nonprofit operations, project management, or a related field; bachelor’s degree required.
- Proven experience managing staff, schedules, operations, and diverse teams, including volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and manage systems in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; able to handle challenging situations with diplomacy while setting appropriate boundaries and adhering to policies
- Strong leadership skills, including team motivation, meeting facilitation, and public speaking with small and large groups.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proficiency with G Suite, QuickBooks, and database systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and local travel as needed during market season.
- Deep commitment to local food system work and the mission of Community Farmers Markets.
Compensation and Schedule:
The position is a full-time, salaried position at $55,000 and includes healthcare insurance, two weeks paid vacation and a flexible PTO policy. The position is a hybrid of in-person and remote, working from the CFM office in Atlanta, as well as weekly market visits and remote work. Some weekends and/or evenings are required.
