Company description
About Our Farm
Flying Coyote Farm is a certified organic vegetable farm on 37 acres in the foothills of Mt. Hood in Sandy, Oregon. Established in 2013, we grow about 9 acres of vegetables using a mix of mechanized and bio-intensive practices, and manage the rest of our land through rotational grazing, cover crops, and forest preservation. Our primary outlets are our 250-member CSA program, a year-round farmers market, and local restaurants and grocery stores. We also raise pigs and chickens for meat—about 1,650 broilers and 15-20 pigs each year.
We farm year-round, rain, sun, or snow, and take pride in the hard work of growing food for our community. Our employees are what make the farm run. Although farming is physically and mentally demanding, we're committed to creating a safe and enjoyable work environment and nurturing our crew's skills and interests.
Our team includes Dan Sullivan and Lili Tova (Farm Owners/Managers) and 8-12 crew members depending on the season.

Job description
Flying Coyote Farm is looking for three people to join our crew for the 2026 season. We're a certified organic vegetable farm on 37 acres in Sandy, Oregon, with about 9 acres in production and the rest managed as pasture and forest. Our crew is the heart of what we do—growing high-quality produce for our 250-member CSA, year-round farmers market, and local restaurant partners.
This work is physical, detail-oriented, and deeply seasonal. You'll participate in all areas of vegetable production: transplanting, weeding, crop care, harvesting, washing, and packing. You'll also contribute to our pasture-based livestock program (chickens, pigs, and goats) and have the opportunity to take on a lead role in a specific area of the farm as you develop expertise.
We're a close-knit, supportive team that takes the work and each other's wellbeing seriously. If you're looking for a place to grow your skills, work hard alongside good people, and be part of a farm that values both quality produce and quality work environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Location
We're located in Sandy, Oregon—about 45 minutes east of Portland in the foothills of Mt. Hood. This is a beautiful place to work, but if you're commuting from Portland, know that it's a real daily commitment at early morning hours. We encourage applicants who live locally or are prepared for the commute long-term.
2026 Compensation & Benefits
Base Pay:
- Starting wage: $18.52/hour (based on living wage for the Portland metro area)
Performance bonus (paid at season end)
Cost of living adjustment for returning employees
Benefits (available 30 days after first day of employment): - 3% IRA Match
60 hours combined PTO/Sick time annually
$500 gear & wellness stipend
$200 education stipend
Farm Perks: - All the veggies you can eat
Meat share (given out at end of season)
Hours/Schedule
Hours typically range from 40-50 hours per week during peak season (June-October). As an agricultural employer, overtime rates apply after 48 hours per week.
May (Spring Schedule):
- Tuesday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
June - September (Main Season):
- Monday/Thursday: 7:00am - 4:30pm
- Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday: 7:00am - 3:30pm
October - November (Fall Schedule):
- Monday/Thursday: 8:00am - 5:30pm
- Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
- Off Wednesday - Friday of Thanksgiving week
Position Period: Must be able to start by May 15th and work through November 30th.
What You'll Do
Our work follows a consistent weekly rhythm:
- Harvest days (Monday/Thursday): Harvesting, washing, and packing diverse crops
- Field days (Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday): Transplanting, weeding, crop care, and seasonal projects
- CSA pack day (Wednesday): Building boxes and preparing orders
Day-to-day work includes:
- Harvesting and post-harvest handling of vegetables
- Packing for CSA, farmers market, and restaurant orders
- Transplanting (mechanical and hand)
- Weeding, trellising, and crop maintenance
- Basic livestock care (feeding, moving fencing, animal welfare)
- Facility maintenance and seasonal projects
Lead Roles: Each crew member takes on a lead responsibility in one area of the farm—such as packing shed, a harvest crew (salad, greens, herbs), CSA pack, or crop management (cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers/eggplant). This allows you to develop deeper expertise while contributing to the farm's overall success.
Growth Opportunities: We value people who want to grow with us. Many crew members return season after season, taking on expanded responsibilities—from lead roles to management positions. If you're interested in developing leadership skills or have management experience, there's room to build that here.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- One season full-time vegetable farming experience (or equivalent hands-on experience you can speak to in detail)
- Dependable transportation and ability to arrive 10 minutes before shift start (6:50am June-Sept, 7:50am May/Oct/Nov)
- Commitment to the full season (May 15 - November 30, 2026)
- Ability to lift 35 lbs repeatedly
- Physical fitness to work outside in all weather conditions (rain, heat, cold)
- Working cell phone for farm communications
You'll thrive here if you:
- Stay focused and maintain quality during repetitive tasks
- Work efficiently without sacrificing attention to detail
- Keep a positive attitude, especially when conditions are challenging

- Welcome feedback and approach farm work as a skill to develop
