Job Title: Field Manager
Location: Agate Acres, Two Harbors, MN
Employment Type: Seasonal (March - October) W2 employment
Hours: March 16 hours/week, April - October 38 hours/week
Schedule: 9.5 hour days, Tuesday - Friday, 8am-6:00pm, .5 hour unpaid lunch

Agate Acres is a diversified flower and vegetable farm and event venue located on the North Shore of Lake Superior. We grow cut flowers for weddings, wholesale, and direct to consumer sales, vegetables for wholesale and farm stand, and pumpkins for seasonal retail. We also host weddings, private events, and community gatherings on the farm.

Position Overview
Agate Acres is seeking a Field Manager to oversee crop production and daily field operations, with a primary focus on cut flower production. This role is for someone who enjoys responsibility, thinks ahead, and stays calm when priorities stack up.
You will work closely with owners Kyle and Emily and serve as the day to day lead in the field. This is a hands-on role and a leadership role. The Field Manager helps set the pace, guides the team, and ensures that labor, systems, and output align with farm goals. For the right person, this position offers real opportunity for growth, expanded leadership, and long term involvement with Agate Acres across multiple seasons.
Key Responsibilities
Field Planning and Production
-Collaborate with Agate Acres leadership to plan and carry out crop production and daily field operations
-Manage planting, cultivation, irrigation, pest control, and harvest schedules with intention and efficiency
-Harvest flowers quickly and carefully to meet quality standards for weddings, wholesale, and direct sales
Team Leadership and Systems
-Train, guide, and support a small seasonal field crew
-Communicate daily priorities clearly and help the team stay focused and productive
-Build, maintain, and improve systems that make work smoother, faster, and more consistent over the season
Post Harvest and Sales Support
-Oversee post harvest handling, storage, and quality control
-Support flower processing for events, wholesale orders, and farm stand sales
-Manage and oversee Farm Stand stocking
Land Stewardship and Infrastructure
-Care for soil health using organic practices including composting, soil amendments, green manure, and crop rotation
-Maintain tools, equipment, and field infrastructure
-Operate farm equipment safely and responsibly
Farm and Community Engagement
-Assist with farm events and community moments when appropriate
-Represent Agate Acres with professionalism, care, and warmth

Qualifications
-At least two years of farm management experience, preferably with diversified crops
-Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
-A deep respect for soil, plants, people, and land stewardship
-Comfort giving direction and maintaining momentum with a crew
-Strong understanding of efficiency, systems building, and labor management
-Knowledge of sustainable and organic farming practices
-Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in varied weather conditions
Compensation and Benefits
-Wage $19-21 per hour depending on experience
-Seasonal produce and florals
-Paid time off accrual at .03 hour per hour worked
