Job description
Radish Farm Stop is hiring for full and part-time Market & Cafe Clerks who will play an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the Radish Farm Stop market and specialty coffee bar. This role is an opportunity to play a role in supporting a new business committed to celebrating and uplifting local food and agriculture.
This is an extremely varied position, and our team members are trained to handle most aspects of daily store operations across spaces. This means that we need team members who are both committed to being dependable and consistent while remaining flexible and adaptable. Team members must be able to work actively, not passively.
In practice, Clerks provide hospitality that exceeds guest expectations through active engagement and product knowledge. This may look like answering a customer’s questions about how to prepare a vegetable they’ve never seen before or cheerfully crafting the perfect latte in the middle of the busiest hour of the day. Clerks serve both the market and the specialty coffee bar and receive training and support to excel in both capacities.
Primary Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet guests and provide friendly assistance in the market and coffee departments, ensuring a warm atmosphere for everyone who enters.
- Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns with a professional and positive attitude
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and coffee offerings in order to answer customers’ questions effectively
- Act as a local food advocate, sharing knowledge about producers and product recommendations.
- Handle all products with care and communicate with store guests about the individuality of different products in a way that honors the hard work of the market’s producers
Market & Cafe Operations
- Replenish market displays by ordering, prepping, rotating and culling products daily, ensuring that fast-selling items are restocked quickly and neatly
- Build and maintain attractive, safe displays and ensure all products are accurately received and legibly labeled on the retail floor and in backstock.
- Use all equipment safely and according to user instructions. Advise manager of equipment repair and replacement needs immediately
- Prepare high-quality specialty coffee and tea beverages using proper techniques
- Track cafe and market inventory and communicate low stock to managers
- Support ideation on new specialty drink offerings
- Implement Radish Farm Stop’s operations and food safety protocols, with high attention to detail at all times.

- Actively participate in and contribute to team meetings
- Provide constructive feedback to direct supervisors and colleagues as needed
- Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement to colleagues and store managers
- Communicate with colleagues in a concise, clear, and productive manner, ensuring that all team tasks are achieved on a daily basis
Qualifications for Success
- Interest in and commitment to Radish Farm Stop’s mission
- Willingness to be cross-trained as a grocer, cashier, barista, and local food advocate.
- Ability to maintain a calm and upbeat demeanor and a commitment to hospitality that promotes a positive work environment during times of high volume, stress or unusual events.
- Demonstrated ability to work with customers and co-workers from various cultural backgrounds
- Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and utilize good time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to follow directions and procedures, and accurately complete tasks
- Ability to communicate with kindness, dignity, and respect at all times
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality service and food preparation
- Regular availability on mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, squat, and walk for extended periods of time per shift
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly on a shift
- Ability to freely access all areas of the store including offices, sales floor, back stock areas, and walk-in coolers and freezers.
- Ability to repetitively use hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
- English proficiency, written and spoken
- Committed to punctuality and exemplary attendance, with an ability to work a flexible schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in a coffee shop, preferably as a barista
- 1+ year of experience in grocery or other produce market setting
- Proficiency in a language other than English, with a preference for Spanish, Somali, or Hmong
Compensation Classification & Benefits
- Hours: Full-time: 32-40 hours/week, Part-time: 10-30 hours/week
- Compensation: $17/hour + tips
- Work location: on-site at Radish Farm Stop, 5357 Penn Ave S. Minneapolis MN 55419
- Schedule Requirements: mornings, evenings, and weekends

Compensation
