Job Description
The Front of House (FoH) Manager serves as the primary leader, manager, and delegator for all front-of-house staff, including servers and back servers. This role acts as the key liaison between the Front of House and Back of House teams, ensuring seamless communication and execution of service.
The FoH Manager is responsible for training, mentoring, and motivating staff to consistently deliver the high standard of service we strive for. A passion for hospitality and strong leadership skills are essential.
As the primary point of contact for day staff, the FoH Manager oversees all event-related details, including shift start times, camping information, and on-site logistics, and must be confident in communicating clearly and efficiently to large groups.
During events, the FoH Manager is expected to be actively present - monitoring service flow, responding to course delays, collaborating with the Host to oversee the guest experience, and guiding the team in real time to ensure events are executed smoothly, efficiently, and successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with the tour crew to develop and execute load-in and load-out plans based on the founders vision
- Take primary responsibility for the production staff management at events
- Act as the day staff's main point of contact for details about each event, including change in start/finish times and camping information
- Direct day staff and provide support of the setup & breakdown of the table, plate display, service station, outdoor kitchen & reception; unpacking & packing platters, supplies & equipment
- Coordinate with the Operations team regarding staffing needs and changes, and complete employee hours and onboarding information
- Lead the placement and setup of the long table
- Conduct pre-service meetings for all day staff, including training on the history of Outstanding in the Field, run of show, and style and sequence of service

- Review all necessary staff documents for onboarding
- Assist Operations team with payroll communication and other administrative tasks, including recruitment, interviews, and hiring
- Strategize, plan and execute initiative to improve staff experience while also searching for ways to cut costs
- Develop and refine training materials for event staff
General Tour Support
- Provide additional tour support and administrative assistance when requested and needed
- Communicate with Tour Manager on tour schedule
- Assist in the errands and tasks on non-event days (i.e. menu pick-up, event laundry, repair needs, and miscellaneous items)
- Act as a back-up driver on the road

- Behind-the-scenes photos and videos
- Brief written or spoken summaries following each event sharing reflections and details of the event
- Insights into life on the road — travel days, team rituals, favorites (songs, snacks, etc.), obstacles (ex: trailer got stuck)
Working Conditions
Special working conditions require regular evening and weekend work, including extended shifts of 12 hours or more. Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions and takes place outdoors, requiring comfort and resilience in the elements. Substantial travel is expected on non-event days, including driving multiple hours between production locations.
Living Conditions
Accommodations may include hotels, homeshares, or camping, depending on location and availability. Shared rooms are common, so comfort with communal living is essential.
