The Talking Farm operates the Howard Street Farm, a 2.5-acre urban farm in Skokie as well as offsite educational gardens. It sells produce at local farmers' markets and through its Garden Membership/weekly produce box program, operates an intensive internship program, volunteer workdays, and on-farm events.
Job description
A great opportunity to implement your farming skills in a fantastic team environment! Staff Farmers assist in the cultivation, maintenance, harvest, and operation of the Howard Street Farm, a full-production teaching farm operated by a nonprofit. By implementing the crop plan under the direction of the Production Managers, you will be an integral part of this year's successful growing-season operations on the farm. This position may be called upon to assist with The Talking Farm’s off-site educational gardens and farmers’ markets in the Skokie and Northern Chicago areas. This part-time, seasonal position requires approximately 20-30 hours/week seasonally. This seasonal position has flexible hours starting in March, running through October, and can be worked around another part-time position.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
