Company description
Blackbird Organics produces approximately 7 acres of mixed vegetables and strawberries for sale through local coops, farmers market, and our on-farm CSA program.
We strive to see our farm from a holistic perspective, with our food production and selves as part of the same ecosystem. Our mission is to produce as much healthy food as we can for our community while maintaining sustainability for both the farmland and the people working it. We utilize rotation, cover cropping, regionally sourced manure, mindful tillage practices, and our mobile flock of laying hens to keep the soil healthy and support thriving crops. We utilize a mix of hand scale market gardening and tractor scale cropping to ensure our work can be done without excessive wear and tear on our bodies. As members of the Vermont Vegetable and Berry Growers association and NOFA-VT, we are constantly reviewing and refining our systems in the endless pursuit of better farming. We organically certify our crops Through Vermont Organic Farmers and with the Real Organic Project.
Our farm is conserved through the Vermont Land Trust, which ensures that this land will stay in agricultural in perpetuity.
