Job description
The Local Eats photography program supports 700+ small- and medium-sized restaurants each year by facilitating food photoshoots and providing custom printed collateral. Each shoot results in an image set of 8-11 images, which must be reviewed for quality and accuracy before being transferred to the client for processing. A portion of the image sets will need to be retouched, color corrected, and layer separated.
Job Summary
The Photo Quality Contractor ensures that all images from photoshoots meet program standards for quality, consistency, and fulfill the overall project scope, before they’re approved by our client partners. This role combines visual evaluation with collaboration across external photography and internal project management teams.
This is a remote role and will be a minimum of 10 hours a week, and up to 25 hours per week, with flexibility required based on shoot schedules.
The majority of these shoots are scheduled Monday - Friday between 9AM and 5PM EST. Occasionally weekend availability will be needed, as well as flexibility to work until 9PM. The Contractor must be able to be available remotely during all shoots to review live test images, which is scheduled on a weekly basis.
The post-processing can be completed according to the Contractor’s availability, with a turnaround time of 2 days for each image set.
Key responsibilities:
- Live image review (50% of responsibilities):
- Receive live test shots from photographers during shoots and follow Figure 8’s live photoshoot SOP to provide immediate evaluation and feedback, ensuring the shots fulfill program standards.
- Effectively troubleshoot with photographers when issues regarding lighting, angle or setup arise.
Serve as the day-to-day point-person for photoshoots, communicating and coordinating across stakeholder groups.
- Provide immediate, clear, and concise responses to test shots and live photoshoot feedback.
- Photo editing support (50% of responsibilities):
- Review image sets from photoshoots for image quality, composition, lighting, focus, and program design specification compliance; maintain consistency across sets in accordance with design standards.
- Organize, manage, transfer, and archive digital image assets.
- Retouch and color correct assets for digital and print.
Identify, flag, and escalate issues from photosets to Figure 8.
Provide clear and constructive feedback to photographers when necessary
- Coordinate with production teams to help facilitate the pipeline of photo approvals.
- Help maintain photo review and approval stages in Hubspot.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in both photography and editing
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop
- Strong working knowledge of photography techniques and terminology (lighting, composition, lens perspective, exposure, etc.)
- Excellent visual judgment with a sharp eye for detail, composition, color accuracy, and consistency
Ability to provide timely, professional, clear feedback to collaborators
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced workflow.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a creative team
- Strong organizational skills and comfort handling large volumes of assets
- Ability to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism, with clear, proactive communication and timely follow-through across stakeholders
Preferred:
- Basic graphic design experience in Adobe Creative Suite and Google Suite
- Basic CRM management (Hubspot)
- Interest in the Food & Beverage industry, and excitement for supporting local restaurants
- Knowledge of AI-powered retouching tools (such as AI masking, background replacement, and image enhancement) to improve efficiency and output quality
- Ability to provide simple graphic design support, including creating simple marketing graphics, presentation decks, and branded materials as needed
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $50.00 - $75.00
