Eventide Oyster Co. is hiring a General Manager!
Come join our James Beard Award winning team and work in a fast paced, high volume, upbeat atmosphere!
The General Manager will work closely with the management team and the Portland Operations Manager in overseeing and coordinating the service, staff, and functions of the front of house. This includes training, leading and supervising staff while solving issues and assisting with guest interactions and the flow of service.
We’re seeking outgoing individuals with a genuine passion for food, beverage, and hospitality. The ideal applicant will have a record of leadership, a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness to have fun and work hard under pressure. Previous restaurant leadership experience is required, at least 5 years preferred.
Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:
- Hire, train, discipline and terminate Front of House staff
- Respond to restaurant inquiries and requests via email and phone in a timely and professional manner
- Inspire and have a genuine passion and commitment to food, staff, guests, and service
- Be proactive in solving guest problems and satisfying guests requests
- Create and distribute staff schedule, review timecards weekly, cashout/tip adjustments, and timely paycheck distribution
- Identify and resolve issues that may detract from a positive work environment and guest experience
- Work with Lead Bartender and other bartenders to ensure seasonal cocktail menu is adjusted as needed
- Order and track inventory for all bar and restaurant specific supplies
- Exercise exemplary judgment in all aspects of the position including interactions with employees, management, and guests
- Work floor shifts for service in various positions as necessary
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
Qualifications:
- Proven restaurant experience, at least 3 years, preferred
- Prior experience in leadership roles, at least 5 years, preferred
- Basic understanding of health and safety codes and basic food and beverage knowledge
- POS experience (Toast a plus!)
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to multitask and maintain organization with a high level of attention to detail
