Our students learn across multiple outdoor campuses. At Pip & Pickles Farm in Northwest Nashville gardens, trails, barns, and habitats become living classrooms. The farm campus is a 10-acre learning environment where children participate in age-appropriate animal care and gardening as part of real-world, project-based education.
Job description
A New Leaf Nature School is hiring a Farm Hand (start March 2026) to support daily animal care and keep our farm campus safe, clean, stocked, and running smoothly. This is a hands-on role caring for goats and chickens, maintaining the barn/coop and fences/grounds, and helping the farm function as a welcoming, safe space for children, families, and staff. Hours are 15–30 per week depending on skills and level of involvement, with consistent daily responsibilities.
In addition to feeding/watering, cleaning and composting, observing animal health and escalating concerns, and weekly upkeep like mowing and minor repairs, you’ll also assist our gardener with seasonal farm tasks (weeding, mulching, planting support, irrigation help, supply runs, and general farm organization). You’ll participate in goat training with students, helping guide safe, calm interactions and reinforcing training routines as part of the learning experience. You’ll thrive here if you’re dependable, comfortable working outdoors in all weather, able to lift and do physical work, and proactive about communication—always prioritizing animal care, safety, and clean, organized spaces.
