Job description
The Field Manager plays a vital leadership role in the daily agricultural operations of the farm. This position is responsible for ensuring that all fieldwork is executed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with organic standards (NOFA). The Field Manager leads staff and Volunteers in the field, maintains production systems, and supports the farm's mission of education, sustainability, and community engagement. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strong farming knowledge and the ability to guide teams with clarity and purpose.
Required Experience:
- 2+ years of farm leadership OR
- 5+ years as a member of a farm's field crew
- Tractor Experience
- Experience working with chickens is a plus
Roles and Responsibilities
- Field Leadership
- Lead daily field ops. (planting, cultivation, harvesting, irrigation and field maintenance)
- supervise staff and volunteers
- train and mentor staff and volunteers
- foster a positive, collaborative and mission driven work environment
- crop production
- execute crop plans in collaboration with farm leadership
- monitor crop and soil health
- support seasonal planning
Equipment Operation:
- Safely operate tractors and related field equipment
- Assist with bed preparation, mowing, material movement, and infrastructure work as needed
Standards and Compliance:
- Maintain organic integrity across all field practices
- ensure proper record keeping
- uphold safety standards and proper tool usage
Systems and Infrastructure:
- Oversee irrigation and field infrastructure
- maintain cleanliness and organization
- assist with compost systems and soil building
- support care and coordination of chickens
Farm Store Suppport
- Coordinate harvests to meet farm store demands
- ensure product quality and consistency for retail availability
Community and Education Support
- Help facilitate volunteer days and educational programming
- Serve as a knowledgeable presence for visitors and program participants when needed
- model the farms values of stewardship, education and collaboration

Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $20.00 - $25.00
