We are a small, 3+ acre certified organic vegetable and culinary herb farm in Port Jervis, NY going into our sixth season. We specialize in garlic, tomatoes, greens and fresh herbs, selling at Union Square Greenmarket in New York City on Saturdays from May to November. 2026 will be our sixth season. Job description
The crew member will work with our lead farmer Joshua, along with another crew member. This role will be involved in all aspects of the farm. With a small crew, it means a lot of varied tasks! We are looking for individuals who are interested in farming as a career and understand the hard work it takes. We strive to create a pleasant working environment.
Wages & Benefits
• $18-20 per hour depending on experience (paid every two weeks)
• Vegetables and herbs from the farm

Work schedule
• April 1-November 20, 2026
• 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
• 1 hour unpaid lunch
• The farm crew works all holidays landing on weekdays including Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Indigenous Peoples Day.
Qualifications
• (Desired, but we will consider applicants with less experience) 1 year of experience working on a production-oriented vegetable farm.
• Comfortable working outside in heat, rain and cold.
• Punctual
• Ability to lift and move 40+ lbs.
Farm tasks include and are not limited to:
• Seeding in the greenhouse
• Transplanting by hand and with the use of a water wheel transplanter
• Weeding by hand and upright hoeing
• Tunnel work including trellising and pruning tomatoes
• Harvesting
• Washing Greens
• Unloading and loading truck with crates / supplies depending on the task
• Irrigation tasks (laying drip line and turning on and off pump and timers)
• Washing vegetable crates and seedling flats
• Pounding tomato stakes and weaving tomatoes
• Mowing with a walk-behind brush mower
• Covering and uncovering crops with row cover dependent on weather and pest pressure
• Assisting laying plastic over beds
• Tractor work dependent on applicant and experience
Work Ethic
We expect you to be engaged in the work (efficiency, quick, attention to detail) and to be respectful to others. You will have to be self motivated and comfortable working alone on some tasks.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $18.00 - $20.00
