Entering our sixth season, we grow vegetables, herbs, flowers, fruits, and nuts for our farm stand, kitchen, and distillery, while hosting workshops, private events, educational programs, and community gatherings.
Job description
All One One All (AOOA) is seeking a passionate and organized Farm Stand cook to help grow the farmstand cafe operations of our nonprofit regenerative silvopasture farm in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley. This is a seasonal role for someone with an interest in farm-to-table food preparation and being part of a community.
You will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of our farm stand by preparing and organizing ingredients for various food items. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the preparation of the farm stand menu items and weekly specials using ingredients sourced directly from our farm.
The ideal candidate has an interest in food and/or farming, using fresh and seasonal ingredients, has 2-5 years kitchen experience and will be able to work well in a team environment. This is a seasonal part-time position with potential for full-time. Shifts are Wednesdays through Sundays. Job starts mid-March and runs until mid-November. Compensation is $17-20/hour and is dependent on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow recipes and work closely with farm stand chef
- Coordinate with Ag team to utilize weekly harvest
- Prepare and serve food and drinks with care and attention to detail
- Quality check ingredients and prepared products to be used during service
- Wash, chop, and dice vegetables, fruits, and herbs.
- Prepare sauces, dressings, batters, doughs, desserts etc. as required.
- Be able to cook via various methods (grilling, sauteing, baking, etc.)
- Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
- Ensure accuracy in measuring ingredients and maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
- Properly use and maintain kitchen equipment, such as knives, mixers, blenders, and food processors.
- Set up and break down work stations and farmstand
- Perform opening and closing duties
- Handle and store ingredients and food properly
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards

- Stock shelves, coolers, and freezers as needed
- Communicate effectively to coordinate tasks and maintain a harmonious working environment
- Provide customer service in our open kitchen
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in kitchens
- Prior experience as a prep cook or similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, including cutting, chopping, and cooking methods.
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. English required to communicate effectively with the team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
- Team oriented; willing to give extra effort to help others
- Excellent time management and strong sense of pace and urgency
- Positive attitude and solution-oriented
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $17.00 - $20.00
