Company description
Theo’s Market Gardens is a fifth-generation family-farm located in the heart of Littleton, Massachusetts, just a short drive from Boston. The farm is a classic example of diversified New England agriculture, growing a variety of vegetables and berries and sustainably raising livestock for processing. When you arrive, park in the gravel lot just steps from the fields where we hand-pick and gather crops for distribution through our beautiful farm market and expansive all-season CSA. We pride ourselves in offering the freshest picked produce directly to our neighbors. As you arrive at the market front, you can often see the farm crew bringing in produce that was picked only moments ago. Our Farm Market dates all the way back to 1931 and features two additions that have allowed our farm to offer a wider selection of produce from trusted growers and suppliers to compliment all we grow and produce on our own homestead. On the farm you will find our Owner/Operator deep in the fields, carefully monitoring upcoming seedlings in the greenhouse, working alongside our field + retail teams, and chatting with regulars. This is a place where kids play, where customers become regulars, shareholders, and friends. It's an environment where folks have the opportunity to get their boots muddy and their hands dirty learning about agriculture.
Job description
Theo’s Market Gardens is seeking an enthusiastic, detail oriented, and responsible CSA Distribution and Retail Specialist to join our team for Peak Season 2026.
Our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members are the heart of our farm, receiving weekly shares of fresh, in-season produce during Peak Season. The CSA Distribution and Retail Specialist will oversee the in-person distribution of shares to members from our Farm Stand. Pick up runs 2-7pm Monday, Thursday, and Friday. The main responsibility would be to provide excellent customer service, chat enthusiastically about the products in each share, and answer any questions that come up about the program + share contents (for example, what the difference between two types of cherry tomatoes is or how to cook with cabbage). Our Operations Manager (Lila) and Owner/Operator (Farmer Jamie) will provide ample resources for you to round out your knowledge of produce so you can skillfully answer these questions, but if you do not like fruits and vegetables, this job is probably not for you! When not assisting CSA members, this individual will support our retail farm team by managing a secondary register, stocking displays, and assisting with post-harvest wash/pack tasks.
This role requires adaptability, problem-solving, and quick thinking. Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn are essential for smooth interaction with both the farm team and CSA members. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently. Previous experience grading (quality control) of produce (fruits and vegetables) or equivalent transferable experience is a must. A passion for local agriculture and interest in how food systems work is a bonus! This position is a great fit for a self-motivated "foodie" who thrives in a people-focused environment!
Key Responsibilities:
- Distribute shares to CSA members throughout the day, ensuring order pick ups are logged and any add-ons are properly distributed with each share.
- Chat enthusiastically with members about weekly harvests - distribute knowledge about specific varieties, updates from the field, cooking tips, and more.
- Communicate with Lila and Jamie on shareholder concerns and questions in a timely manner
- Utilize your eye for detail to grade produce during the wash/pack process, ensuring only the highest-quality items reach our members and customers. Handle these products with great care!
- Maintain a clean and presentable workspace
- Efficiently manage a secondary register during peak hours, handle transactions, and maintain + stock retail displays.
- Memorize retail prices, sale information, farm history, program information, and specific produce variety information to ensure a customer can receive the “full answer” to a question that moves beyond “3.99/lb” into a storyline they can form connections to
Qualifications: Required
- Experience working on a farm or a knowledge and love of fresh fruits and vegetables + cooking
- Strong time management skills, detail-oriented, and ability to plan ahead
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; friendly demeanor; positive attitude
- Reliable and trustworthy; responsible
- Able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, be on your feet and active for extended periods of time, and work outside in variable weather conditions, including heat

- Demonstrated ability (or transferable experience) quickly recalling client preferences and history to personalize service experience
- Experience working in sales or another customer facing role
