Job description
About the Role
We are seeking a seasonal Sous Chef to join our culinary team in Greenport, NY.
This role is shared between The Lin and our sister property, Matchbook Distilling Co., an R+D facility producing small-batch spirits that champion agriculture, anthropology, tradition and science. The distillery regularly hosts visiting clients and collaborators, with food playing an integral role in the guest experience.
The Sous Chef will contribute to both environments; preparing meals for distillery guests as well as supporting events, dinners and retreats at The Lin.
The Kitchen & Team
This is a hands-on opportunity well suited to a chef interested in private chef work, small-scale hospitality and cooking with exceptional produce. Our approach emphasizes seasonal ingredients, local farms and fisheries, and thoughtful, ingredient-driven menus. We also maintain a culinary garden that contributes to our seasonal cooking.
The Lin operates with a small culinary team and this role involves working closely with the Culinary Director across a range of services. The pace varies from quiet prep days to busy event evenings, requiring flexibility, organization and a calm, professional working style.
The ideal candidate is organized, self-directed and comfortable in a collaborative environment where initiative and clear communication are essential. We are especially interested in candidates who would be excited to return for future summer seasons.
