We are two farmers growing on two acres using certified organic, low/no-till and bio-intensive methods to provide our community with year-round, vibrant, nutrient-dense food and medicine.
Dharma Farm was established in 2012 because we believe in the vital, life-giving force of whole foods and herbs, and know them to comprise the roots of personal, community and planetary health and wellness. We farm with the knowledge that healthy soils grow delicious vegetables, potent and healing medicinals, nourished communities, and contribute to a thriving ecosystem. Farming is a livelihood that nourishes our beings, our bellies, the soil with which we work, our customer's appetites, and our local community's economic strength and vitality. We do not know of a more satisfying endeavor.
Our Maine roots are strong. Our love for food, farm, and community runs deep. Our passion for political and social action is engaged and thrives through our work. Our childhood's were full of fresh garden veggies and days spent playing in the woods, but we never conceived we'd grow up to be farmers. But here we are, crafting a livelihood from the land because for us, the sacred works of agriculture are direct moral and ethical actions. Growing food and medicine is the manifest of our personal philosophies, philosophies gleaned from diverse work, education, and travel experiences. Farming is our right way of living in this world. It is our dharma, our purpose in this life and our path of good. We believe dharma enhances life and through the action of farming, we honor this and our ethics- doing right for ourselves, the land and all the creatures it supports, our community, and larger world one seed at a time.
Job description
Do you enjoy working with vegetables, flowers, and herbs? Are you motivated, hard-working and passionate about local food systems and organic agriculture? If so, we are hiring for our 2026 crew and we may be farm for you! Full and part-time positions available.

JOB DUTIES are diverse and varied but include:

Harvesting vegetables for farmers’ markets and wholesale accounts

Washing/Packing vegetables for markets/accounts (in our NEW four-season wash/pack building!)

Bed prep (composting, amending, broadforking, mulching)

Direct Seeding and Transplanting crops
-
Weeding/thinning/other cultivation
-
High tunnel pruning and trellising
-
Seedling production (seeding, potting up, tagging, organizing)

Setting up/breaking down infrastructure (irrigation, caterpillar tunnel, moving tarps, etc)

Farmers’ market help (setting up, selling, breaking down)
BENEFITS
SCHEDULE
Main season is Mid-April - October. We work 8 hour days with a 30 minute unpaid lunch. Typical farm crew hours are 7am-3:30pm and 6:30am-2:30pm for market crew.
Dharma Farm is an inclusive workplace that offers respect, appreciation, and clear communication for its workers and is a fun, supportive and positive environment in which to grow one’s farm skills whilst contributing to a robust local food system. We enjoy sharing our farming knowledge and the fruits of our labor with deep talks in the field, belly laughs in the wash station, and lots of snacks with the crew.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
