The College Light Opera Company (CLOC) is a non-profit educational theatre company located in Falmouth, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Since 1969, CLOC has provided thousands of college-age students from around the country with a unique educational opportunity to learn from leading professionals and practice their craft in a challenging but supportive environment.
Each summer, CLOC invites 75 of our nation's most promising theatre artists to be in residence in Falmouth for 11 intense weeks of production. These students become members of our Vocal Company, Orchestra, Design and Production Team, Music Staff, and Business Staff. The result is 9 fully produced musicals and operettas; these productions are considered to be among the best theatrical productions on Cape Cod each summer.
CLOC's residential campus is located in beautiful West Falmouth, within easy walking distance of the beach and adjacent to the scenic Shining Sea Bike Path. The restaurant style kitchen is fully equipped.
Job description
The College Light Opera Company (CLOC) is seeking a seasonal cook for our 2026 summer season. The cook prepares daily meals for a resident company of approximately 80 college-aged performers and technicians during our intensive theatre season.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in camp, dormitory, cooperative, or large-group food service who enjoys cooking hearty, satisfying meals for an appreciative group.
Contract Dates: June 5 – August 23, 2026
Responsibilities:
• Plan menus and manage food orders within a budget
• Prepare daily lunch and dinner for ~80 people
• Coordinate deliveries from food wholesalers
• Supervise two assistants who help with meal prep
• Maintain kitchen organization and sanitation
Lunch is typically soup-and-sandwich style, while dinner is the main meal. Meals are served family-style in a large dining hall.
Typical day:
• Lunch prep begins around 11:00 AM
• Lunch served at 1:00 PM
• Dinner served at 6:00 PM
• Afternoons and evenings generally free
The cook receives one full 24-hour day off each week.
Requirements:
• Experience cooking for large groups preferred
• Strong organizational and budgeting skills
• Valid driver’s license and access to a car required
Compensation & Benefits:
• $13,000–$15,000 seasonal stipend. Contract period is June 5 through August 23, 2026 (11 weeks). Annualized equivalent of season contract is $79,654 to $81,654 which includes contract salary plus private room and board value; this is an exempt position.
