Up and coming bagel company seeks baker!

Bread experience required, bagel experience not required.

We're a mix of wholesale and direct-to-customer, but we're much more 'let's make 2000 delicious and pretty bagels' than 'let's decorate 100 beautifully delicate pastries'.

Location: Crown Heights, Brooklyn, NY. Off the A/C. We work in a big commercial kitchen with good equipment and a massive dishwasher.

Schedule: Part-time (20hrs/week min.), early mornings required on weekends. Possibility to transition to full time after a trial period, about 4 weeks.

Pay: $20-25/hr depending on experience

Responsibilities:

• Make bagels, cream cheese, and other associated items for weekend farmers markets.
• Make and package mini bagels, sauces, and other items for pizzabagels.
• Ensure quality of bagels and ingredients while minimizing waste.

Requirements

• Strong communication and leadership skills, including patience and team guidance.
• Comfortable producing a lot of food at a high level of quality, with a team to help.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs+ (flour etc).
• Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working early mornings a few days/week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Baking or kitchen experience ( 1-2 years+)
• You’re eager to learn and master new skills.
• You walk the line between being creative and an ability to produce at a high volume.

Early weekends are non-negotiable. The current schedule is Thursday to Monday, hours may vary, with weekends as early as 3am.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $20.00 - $25.00
