Company description
Blackwater Pastures is a regenerative cattle operation in South Georgia producing high-quality, nutrient-dense beef sold directly to customers. Our Atlanta markets are a key sales channel and a major point of connection with our customers.
Job description
We’re hiring someone to take full responsibility for operating and improving our Atlanta farmers market program. This is a hands-on operations role with real responsibility—not a casual market job. You will be responsible for running a multi-market retail operation across Atlanta, including logistics, inventory, staffing, and execution. If you are looking for flexible side work, inconsistent hours, or a low-responsibility role, this is not a fit. If you are highly reliable, organized, and interested in taking ownership of a growing direct-to-consumer food operation, keep reading.
About Blackwater Pastures
Blackwater Pastures is a regenerative cattle operation in South Georgia producing high-quality, nutrient-dense beef sold directly to customers. Our Atlanta markets are a key sales channel and a major point of connection with our customers.
What This Role Actually Is
You will be responsible for executing and improving a multi-market retail operation across Atlanta. This includes logistics, inventory, staffing, and sales execution.
You are not just working markets, you are running them. This role requires strong accountability, consistent execution, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts reliably week after week.
Core Responsibilities
● Operate 4–5 farmers markets per week (weekends + weekday markets)
● Set up and break down booths (tent, signage, product display)
● Manage and restock inventory to ensure each market is properly stocked and prepared
● Drive and maintain a company-provided Ford Transit market van used for all market operations
● Ensure van is plugged in at your residence at all times when not in use (critical requirement)
● Coordinate and supervise one additional staff member for overlapping markets (primarily Saturdays and Thursdays)
● Track inventory, product movement, and weekly sales to support ongoing improvements
● Maintain a clean, professional, and consistent market presence
● Make 2 trips per month to our farm in South Georgia for bulk restocking
● Identify opportunities to improve market performance, product mix, and customer experience
● Ensure all markets are consistently staffed and executed, whether personally working or coordinating staff
Schedule & Workload
● 4–5 markets per week
● Each market is ~4 hours plus setup and breakdown
● Weekly inventory management and restocking
● Additional driving and logistics responsibilities
This is a physically active, detail-oriented role that requires consistency and follow-through.
Compensation (Trial Period)
● $500/week base pay
● $50 per market worked
● $25 per market supervised (when managing another staff member)
● $250 monthly reliability bonus (earned through consistent attendance, punctuality, and
execution)
● $100/month vehicle management stipend
● Company-provided Ford Transit market van (stored at your residence)
Typical weekly earnings during trial: $700–$1,000 depending on number of markets worked and performance
After the trial period, compensation will expand to include performance-based incentives tied to revenue growth, market improvement, and operational consistency.
Non-Negotiable Requirements
● Excellent reliability (you must show up consistently—markets cannot be missed)
● Ability to store the Ford Transit van at your residence and keep it plugged in and secure
● Valid driver’s license, responsible driving record, and proof of insurance
● Comfortable driving a large van regularly
● Ability to lift and move boxes/materials weighing ~40 lbs regularly
● Willingness to make 2 monthly trips to the farm (South Georgia)
● Ability to consistently meet early morning start times and maintain a reliable weekly schedule
● Strong organizational and time management skills
If any of the above are a stretch, this role will not be a good fit.
Preferred (But Not Required)
● Experience with farmers markets, food service, or retail
● Experience with inventory or logistics
● Comfort working independently and managing multiple moving parts
● Interest in local food, farming, or direct-to-consumer businesses
What Success Looks Like
● Markets are consistently staffed, on time, and well executed
● Inventory is accurate, organized, and properly stocked for each market
● Sales improve over time through better execution and product mix
● Strong relationships with repeat customers are developed
● Underperforming markets are identified, improved, or replaced
Why This Role Is Worth It
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a growing revenue channel. You will:
● Run a real operation, not just work shifts
● Gain experience in logistics, retail, and direct-to-consumer sales
● Have input on improving and expanding the Atlanta market program
● Earn additional upside as the program grows
This role is best suited for someone who wants to take ownership of an operation, not just work shifts.
