Assistant Manager / Chef (Restaurant Operations & Kitchen Lead)
FarmEats BBQ – Tarrytown, NY area
FarmEats BBQ is looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager / Chef who wants to grow into running a restaurant. This role is ideal for someone who understands kitchen operations, enjoys leading a small team, and wants to learn the full business side of hospitality.
This is not just a cooking job. The right person will learn how to manage food production, control costs, supervise staff, and eventually run day-to-day operations.
What You’ll Do
Kitchen Leadership
Prepare and execute menu items with consistency and speed
Oversee food prep and daily kitchen production
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
Manage inventory and ingredient ordering
Control food cost and reduce waste
Operations & Management
Assist in managing daily restaurant operations
Supervise kitchen and front-of-house staff during shifts
Ensure quality control for all food leaving the kitchen
Help organize prep systems and workflow for efficiency
Assist with catering orders, events, and special menus
Growth Responsibilities
Learn restaurant financial basics (food cost, labor, margins)
Help develop systems that keep the restaurant running smoothly
Train and lead team members
Grow into a leadership role managing shifts or the entire operation
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has kitchen experience (line cook, sous chef, or kitchen lead)
Is organized and reliable
Can move quickly and stay calm during busy service
Wants to learn restaurant management and operations
Is comfortable leading a small team
Bonus if you have experience with:
BBQ or smokehouse cooking
Catering or event service
Ordering and inventory management
Compensation:
Competitive hourly or salary depending on experience
