We source from local farms supporting our local food system and sell these products on a sliding sclae through our community supported grocery store in Millerton (Tri Corner FEED Market). The mission of the store is to increase access to healthy food, improve community engagement, create markets for local producers and support the preparation of nutritious foods in our incubator kitchen
Job description
As a key team member in our community-centered market and incubator kitchen, the Market Associate ensures a welcoming, safe, and community driven shopping experience. If you want to help build community in our area, this is an opportunity to work in a meaningful way to improve our local food system.
This role supports day-to-day retail and kitchen operations by increasing access to nutrient dense food while creating a high energy maintaining clean, well-stocked shelves, delivery excellent customer service, and upholding food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Retail Operations
Support our mission driven sliding scale grocery store
Create energy and welcoming community environment
Promote and explain mission to customers
Support daily operations of store including check out and stocking of product
Understand partner Farmer practices and communicate information on growing practices and products to customers.
Understand product mix and rationale behind procurement practices.
Prepare coffee drinks for customers.
Incubator Kitchen
Responsibilities depend on experience of applicant. With food preparation /cooking experience, responsibilities can include preparing meals that are sold in the store that use local ingredients and highlight our local farm producers and managing our incubator kitchen that is open to entrepreneur chefs and educational opportunities. With less experience, the role may include help managing the incubator kitchen without necessarily direct food preparation. We are flexible to the experience of a candidate.

Required Skills and Experience
- Prior grocery or retail experience preferred.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Familiarity with food safety and customer service standards is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Attention to detail, time management, and reliability are essential.
- Comfort and experience working and communicating with people from various backgrounds
- Independent, dependable and hardworking.
- Ability to carry store inventory up and down stairs and lift up to 50 pounds. Inventory management can involve physically strenuous work including lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, and utilizing ladders and step stools.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
