Job description
Evandale Farm is seeking a Livestock Enterprise & Farm Manager to join our growing team as a core staff member and long-term contributor to the farm’s development.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience with grass-based livestock management, a strong commitment to responsible land stewardship, and an interest in helping develop the broader vision of a diversified farm over time.
This role will initially focus on managing and growing the farm’s beef cattle operation, stewarding pasture and soil health, and maintaining farm infrastructure. As the farm grows and diversifies, the ideal Farm Manager will also help oversee the expansion of the livestock program as well as additional enterprises and staff, including future fruit and vegetable production teams.

Key Responsibilities
Livestock Management
Oversee and manage the farm’s grass-fed Angus cattle operation
Implement and maintain rotational grazing systems
Monitor herd health, feeding systems, and animal welfare
Manage breeding, calving, and herd growth planning
Land & Pasture Stewardship
Manage pasture systems to promote long-term soil health
Monitor forage conditions and adjust grazing strategies accordingly
Support regenerative agricultural practices that improve ecosystem health
Farm Infrastructure & Equipment
Maintain fencing systems, water systems, gates, and pasture infrastructure
Oversee farm equipment use and maintenance
Operate tractors and assist with light excavation when necessary
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform general farm repairs
Farm Operations & Coordination
Support planning and development of additional farm enterprises
Coordinate with staff, interns, and volunteers
Assist in hiring and supervising future enterprise managers
Maintain operational organization and farm records
Leadership & Community Engagement
Help cultivate a collaborative and educational farm environment
Provide leadership and mentorship to farm staff and trainees
Support community engagement through farm events and educational programming
Skills & Qualifications
4+ years experience managing grass-fed cattle (required)
Previous farm management experience strongly preferred
Experience supervising farm staff, interns, or volunteers
Strong interest in helping develop a diversified multi-enterprise farm
Leadership and teaching experience in an agricultural setting preferred
Strong customer service and community engagement skills preferred
Technical Skills
Excellent working knowledge of soil health, pasture management, and fencing systems
Experience with high tunnel production or season extension preferred
Tractor operation experience required
Light excavator operation experience preferred
On-farm mechanical experience and troubleshooting ability required
Administrative Skills
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and solve problems in the field
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions
A valid drivers license is required for moving between the various locations on the property and light hauling requirements for moving livestock
Work Environment
This role requires working outdoors in a wide range of environmental conditions and maintaining a flexible schedule as needed during peak farm seasons. Weekend work may be required.
