Equity Trust is a small, national nonprofit advancing socially equitable land ownership and economics rooted in social justice and environmental sustainability. Much of our work centers on farmland access and long‑term farm viability, using alternative ownership structures to keep working land affordable, secure, and community‑stewarded. We work to shift the dialogue on land ownership and broaden awareness of tools and strategies for removing property from the speculative market, promoting land justice, and deepening community connections to land. Since 1991, we’ve championed creative forms of land tenure that balance public interest with secure access and autonomy for the people who use the land. We provide technical assistance and training, mission‑aligned financing, and educational materials to support farmers, community land trusts, and community groups implementing alternative ownership structures that create long‑term affordability and community stewardship.
Job description
Equity Trust (Amherst MA), a small, national nonprofit advancing socially equitable land ownership and economics rooted in social justice and environmental sustainability, is seeking an Executive Director. This role blends strategic and hands-on leadership across operations, staff supervision, fundraising, communication and organizational planning, with a focus on strengthening the organization’s capacity to respond to the shifting conditions that shape our work. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will help define and carry forward a vision for Equity Trust’s next chapter, building on our legacy of land justice, expanding our solidarity‑economy and land‑justice networks, and advancing efforts to remove barriers to access across all programs, with particular attention to the racial dimensions of unequal access to property ownership. this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $80,000.00 - $90,000.00
