Position Overview
Land Stewards Farm is seeking a dependable and experienced Assistant Livestock Manager to assist daily operations of the livestock program. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with our Livestock Manager to implement animal care, grazing management, and coordination of livestock-related farm activities.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in the management and care for 150 breeding ewes and 80 breeding does
Daily care and health monitoring of livestock guardian dogs
Assist in management of turkeys and mixed poultry flocks
Monitor herd and flock health and coordinate treatment or veterinary care when needed
Practice rotational grazing systems across hundreds of acres of pasture at different property locations
Maintain and manage fencing, water systems, and livestock infrastructure
Maintain accurate livestock records including breeding, health treatments, and production
Work with supervisors to implement farm goals and grazing plans
Ensure strong standards of animal welfare and farm biosecurity
Qualifications
Hands-on livestock experience (sheep, goats, or similar species preferred)
Strong animal observation and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Valid driver’s license required to drive on public roads to multiple farm and worksite locations
Preferred Skills
Experience managing small ruminants
Familiarity with poultry production
Ability to operate farm equipment (ATV, tractor, skid steer, small implements)
Experience with farm recordkeeping systems
Compensation & Benefits
$20-25 per hour, depending on experience
On-farm housing
40 hours paid sick leave
Access to farm meat and eggs
