Company description
Sun Feast Farm is a year round 6 acre diversified vegetable farm on Sauvie Island, just outside of Portland Oregon. We focus on building soil to grow resilient strong plants and food for our local community. While not certified organic we think of ourselves as growing ecologically, remembering that we live and work within the greater ecosystem around us. We farm to support diversity and encourage ecolibrium around us from our soil microbiome to the many varieties of crops we tend to and the people we feed. We grow with an appreciation for the labor of love that is food from seed to plate, full of joy and curiosity. If you want to help a small farm reach their big dreams please reach out!

At Sun Feast Farm we grow diversified vegetables with a focus on building soil and plant health. While not certified organic we follow organic practices. We believe in and try to practice endless learning here, always wanting to better know the lands we farm and the ways vegetables are asking to be nurtured. Join us if long days in the sun keep you smiling as we share in the bounty from this land.
This position is involved in all farm tasks. These include seeding, transplanting, cultivating, trellising, pest management, harvesting, wash/pack, and any other tasks that may arise. Attention to detail, strong work ethic, positive attitude and ability to lift 50# repeatedly and bend and kneel for long stretches are a must in our farming practices, where human power fuels a great deal of our work. Being observant and curious are a huge plus! This person has to be a team player and be excited to work hard through all kinds of weather and tasks, side by side to bring life and bounty to our field and communities tables. We hope for people who enjoy a good conversation and company but are also happy to work independently. Ideally you will be someone with at least 1 year small-scale agriculture farming experience, excellent attention to detail, and familiarity with produce quality standards.
In addition to field work, this person will participate in greenhouse tasks. They need to be someone who loves spending time with seeds, has strong attention to detail, and enjoys being organized and keeping clear records. They need to work well, or even enjoy working independently but also have strong communication skills. If you have experience working with baby plants and/or in a production nursery that is a plus but not essential to being accepted. This job is very important to us as the beginning of all life here on the farm.
There will be times of year when everyone is working together to make big projects happen and other times when you will be handed a list in the morning of what needs to be seeded or harvested. Throughout all farm tasks we will train you in what to look for and will need your extra set of eyes to stay on top of things should they appear. We work hard but in good company and value everyone who contributes to making this farm come to life.
