Job description
Position Overview
The Kitchen Commissary Team Member is responsible for preparing high-quality food, breads, and pastries for Think Coffee locations. This is a hands-on, skilled role requiring experience in both savory cooking and baking. While not a leadership position, it carries a high level of responsibility, technical ability, and accountability for production, quality, and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of foods for café service, following established recipes, production standards, and portioning guidelines.
- Produce breads and pastries, including mixing, shaping, baking, and finishing, with attention to consistency and quality.
- Execute daily production schedules to ensure timely preparation and delivery of commissary items to all locations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen in accordance with food safety standards, including:

- Proper food storage temperatures before, during, and after preparation
- Accurate labeling and dating of all products
- Adherence to FIFO practices
- Prevention of cross-contamination and awareness of allergens
- Set up, maintain, and break down workstations, ensuring all ingredients are fresh, properly prepped, and stocked for production.
- Follow all recipes precisely, including measuring, weighing, and baking procedures to ensure consistency across all products.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment (ovens, mixers, etc.) safely and effectively.
- Monitor inventory levels at the workstation and communicate needs or discrepancies to kitchen leadership.
- Support inventory management through proper storage, labeling, rotation, and minimizing waste.
- Check deliveries for quality and accuracy against invoices when needed.
- Maintain accurate production logs, including time and temperature records where required.
- Ensure all products meet Think Coffee standards for quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Work efficiently and independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
- Previous professional kitchen experience required, with demonstrated skills in both cooking and baking.
- Experience with bread production and pastry techniques strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards, including proper temperature control and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow recipes and production processes with precision and consistency.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.
- Team-oriented with clear communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Food Handler’s Card (or willingness to obtain).
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $16.50 - 20/hr
