Senior Food Nutrition and Cooking Educator (NYC) - ALL BOROUGHS

Location: NYC (Schools across Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island)
Type: Part-time/Contractor
Compensation: $40 - $55 per hour, based on experience and certifications
Role Overview
Are you a next-generation educators?
Foodstream Inc is seeking engaging Educators to deliver hands-on educational programming in schools as part of the Foodstream Learn initiative. Educators lead structured sessions using Foodstream-provided curriculum and materials, supporting students through interactive learning experiences focused on food, cooking, and education.
This role focuses on instructional delivery and program execution, classroom supervision remains the responsibility of school staff.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver assigned educational sessions following Foodstream curriculum
Prepare materials and set up for each session
Coordinate logistics with Foodstream Program Managers
Adapt lesson delivery as needed based on classroom timing and student needs
Capture and submit session documentation (attendance, surveys, photos/videos)
Follow school safety and emergency procedures
Communicate promptly regarding scheduling, procurement, and program needs
Administrative Responsibilities
Submit required attendance records and program surveys
Share session media through designated platforms
Complete procurement forms when required
Submit invoices according to Foodstream guidelines
Compensation
Day/session rate varies by program and experience
Compensation includes session delivery, preparation time, routine communication, and local travel unless otherwise approved
Ideal Candidate
Experience teaching, facilitating, or leading youth programs
Comfortable working in school environments
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Organized, reliable, and communicative
Able to follow structured curriculum while engaging students dynamically
Qualifications
Required:
Current background check.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in food education, nutrition, culinary arts, public health, or a related field.
5+ years of experience teaching food education in school settings, preferably middle or high school.
Strong expertise in classroom management, curriculum development, and student engagement.
Proven ability to work independently while collaborating with educators and administrators.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to travel between NYC boroughs, own vehicle is optional.
Preferred:
Experience working with students with neurological disabilities or special education needs.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency.
Certification as a Nutrition Educator, Registered Dietitian (RD), or Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) from an accredited institution.
Food Handler’s Permit or Certification in food safety certification, Nutrition Education, or Public Health Nutrition.
Teaching Certification or formal training in instructional methodologies, such as an Educator Certification, Teaching License, or relevant professional development courses in education.
CPR/First Aid certification.
Hours & Contract Details
Part-time contract position with flexible scheduling based on school program needs.
Program compensation based on experience and qualifications.
