Kula Kamala Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the health, wellness, and happiness of those we serve. Our campus includes an ashram, where the spiritual teachings and practice of Yoga and Sanatana Dharma are offered. We have also furthered our mission by developing Sacred Threads Farm and Food4All Cafe, in order to provide clean, green, violence free food to the community. All food is vegetarian/vegan, gluten free, and grown in accordance with organic standards. We love to serve our community with goodness, compassion, and mindfulness.
Internship description
Our farm internship program is designed for people interested in gaining experience working on a small scale organically inspired farm, learning about local sustainable agriculture, conservation, and greenhouses. During this summer farm internship, interns will be engaged in farming tasks including planting, harvesting, weeding, trellising, and irrigation, and conservation projects, such as tree planting and stream monitoring. Candidates must be comfortable working on their feet doing physical work for long periods of time. We do not require interns to have any previous farming experience; however, they must have a responsible character and an interest to learn. We are excited to provide interns with a fulfilling experience that they can carry forward in their life experience. Position necessitates: being outdoors in all kinds of weather, encountering insects, working with farm and garden tools, spending time in nature, and a moderate to heavy workload.
This internship will provide students with knowledge of:
- dome greenhouses
- farming and gardening plots
- sustainable local food production
- pest control
- environmental stewardship
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
