Brooklyn-Based Commissary Bakery is seeking an experienced and dedicated Kitchen Manager to join our growing team.
We are a high-volume, from-scratch bakery producing a menu of baked goods—including muffins, scones, cookies, and cakes—for multiple café locations. We are committed to quality, consistency, and maintaining a respectful, team-oriented work environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable managing production, supporting a team, and maintaining strong operational systems.
Job description
The Kitchen Manager will work closely with ownership to oversee the daily operations of our commissary kitchen. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production, consistent product quality, and a well-organized, supportive workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of bakers during daily production
Create and manage weekly staff schedules; coordinate coverage as needed
Maintain product quality, consistency, and adherence to established standards
Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations
Train, onboard, and support team members in their development
Oversee inventory, ordering, and vendor coordination
Maintain and improve kitchen systems, workflows, and organization
Address operational and personnel matters in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications
2–5+ years of kitchen or bakery management experience
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Proven ability to manage teams in a production environment
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and consistency
Ability to problem-solve effectively and remain composed under pressure
Reliable, proactive, and accountable
Position Details
Full-time position (5 days/week)
Approximately 40 hours per week, with flexibility based on production needs
Brooklyn-based commissary kitchen
Salary: $70,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience

Compensation
this position is: salaried, $75,000 - $100,000
