About the Position
Tilth Alliance’s Farm Program provides services across the state in support of farmers implementing organic, sustainable, and regenerative farming practices. The Farm Program Coordinator is passionate about expanding the farm program’s engagement with our farming community and supports all Farm Program activities including, but not limited to, Farm Walks, the annual Tilth Conference, the Washington Sustainable and Organic Farming Fund grant program, the Eat Local First Collaborative, and the Sustainable Ag Farmer Forum. The Farm Program Coordinator will work with a diverse group of farmers, staff, partners, and stakeholders to deliver programming that is relevant, accessible, and impactful across a diversity of types and scales of production, cultural backgrounds, and experience levels.
Job Responsibilities
● Assist the Farm Team with the delivery and evaluation of the Farm Walks Program, Tilth Conference, the Washington State Organic and Sustainable Farming Fund (WSOSFF), the Sustainable Ag Farmer Forum (SAFF), the Eat Local First Collaborative and the Farmer E-Newsletter
● Translation and interpretation support for the Washington Food & Farm Finder, SAFF, Tilth Conference, Farm Walks, and Farmer E-Newsletter
● Work with underserved (new and beginning) and veteran farmers across Washington State to assess informational, educational, and technical assistance gaps
● Support the creation and delivery of outreach materials for a variety of programming
● Provide administrative assistance such as data entry, logistical coordination, and document management across Farm Team programming
● Day of event support for Farm Walks and annual Tilth Conference
Required Skills
· Native or Bilingual Spanish or Professional Working Proficiency in Spanish
· Desire to work in the local food system and tackle issues facing Washington farmers, consumers, and buyers
· Demonstrated ability working with people from a variety of racial, cultural, economic, and geographic backgrounds
· Knowledge of farming and food systems and desire to promote local food economies
· Intermediate computer skills that include Microsoft Suite such as Outlook, Word and Excel
· Exceptional organizational, scheduling, and time management skills
· Ability to problem solve and work in dynamic settings; ability to toggle between various types of content and tasks
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Strong communication skills, both oral and written
· Self-directed and able to work independently as well as with a team
Desired Experience
● Familiarity/experience with agricultural production practices and/or farm business management
● Familiarity/experience with Washington’s agricultural sector
● Knowledge, understanding of, and a passion for organic and sustainable agriculture
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20.76 - 25/hr
