Company description
We are building a place-based institute on a historic 300-acre high-desert campus in central Arizona (one hour equidistant to Phoenix, Sedona, Flagstaff, and Prescott), focused on regenerative agriculture, food systems, ecological stewardship, design, and immersive, all-ages education.
The campus includes more than a hundred existing buildings (homes, dorms, dining hall, library, classrooms, etc.) and infrastructure that once supported a long-standing educational institution. We're reimagining and bringing them back to life through a new vision and operating model.
While we are in an early stage of development, building systems and programs from the ground up, we are doing so within the context of a nearly 100-year legacy of land stewardship on this property. This dual reality, a new enterprise emerging within an established physical campus and a deeply rooted history, shapes how we approach both our work and our community.
Our model integrates hands-on learning, hospitality, and land stewardship.
We are a small, dedicated team building something meaningful within an already remarkable physical setting, and we are looking for people who want to contribute to that process.
Job description
We are seeking a highly capable, mission-aligned Executive Assistant to support the Executive Director and COO during a pivotal stage of growth.
This is not a traditional administrative role. It is an opportunity to operate at the center of a living, evolving nonprofit—supporting leadership while helping shape systems, communications, and day-to-day flow across a complex campus environment.
The ideal candidate brings prior nonprofit experience and understands how to navigate mission-driven organizations, including working with boards, donors, and early-stage organizational structures.
Responsibilities:
Executive & Board Support
- Manage calendars, scheduling, and travel for Executive Director and COO
- Coordinate board meetings, prepare materials, and track follow-ups
- Draft correspondence and communications with board members, donors, and partners
Operations & Organizational Support
- Act as a central point of coordination across departments
- Help organize workflows, documents, and systems as they are being built
- Support onboarding and communication with partners, guests, and collaborators
- Assist with event and program logistics
Nonprofit Administration
- Support development efforts (donor tracking, materials, light research)
- Help maintain organized records and documentation for compliance and reporting
- Assist in implementing systems that support a growing nonprofit organization
Project & Communication Support
- Track key initiatives across operations, programming, and capital projects
- Draft and manage internal and external communications
Build and maintain simple systems (spreadsheets, trackers, SOPs)
- Anticipate needs and proactively solve problems
Qualifications
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization (strongly preferred)
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through
- Emotionally intelligent, grounded, and discreet
- Strong sense of ownership and initiative
Preferred but not required:
- Experience supporting executives or founders
- Familiarity with donor relations, board coordination, or fundraising
- Interest in regenerative agriculture, land stewardship, design, hospitality, or education
- Experience in residential/community-based environments

You will live and work on a unique high-desert campus, with access to nature, a close-knit team, and a rare and exciting opportunity to help build a mission-driven organization from the ground up.
