Job description
Nice Matin, a long-standing Provençal brasserie on the Upper West Side, is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Sommelier.
The ideal candidate is deeply committed to hospitality and brings a strong foundation in both wine and cuisine. This role is well suited for a sommelier with fine dining experience who is looking to operate in a more approachable, neighborhood-driven setting while maintaining a high standard of fine wine service.
Candidates should possess extensive wine knowledge, with a particular strength in mature vintages and classic regions. Advanced certifications (WSET Diploma, Master Sommelier track, or equivalent) are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee cellar organization and maintenance
- Manage inventory
- Maintain and evolve the wine list
- Collaborate on food and wine pairings
- Lead nightly wine service (4–5 evenings per week)
- Dedicate one day per week to administrative and program development duties
This is a full-time position offering hourly compensation plus participation in the tip pool. Health benefits are also provided.
