**Kitchen Assistant**
**Job Description**
We’re on the lookout for a Kitchen Assistant to join our energetic team and support our lead chefs during live chef competitions and private events. If you have line cook experience and thrive in a fast-paced kitchen while enjoying a vibrant, guest-facing atmosphere, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
**Hands-On Classes:** You’ll use your culinary knowledge to help our guests learn techniques and skills, set up mise en place, assist the chef, and provide excellent hospitality to create a memorable customer experience.
**Catered Events, Public Dinners & Chef Competitions:** In addition to supporting hands-on cooking classes, you will assist lead chefs in preparing multi-course menus for private catered events and public dining experiences. There is even the chance to compete as a sous chef in our exciting chef competitions for prize money! You’ll be involved in ever-evolving menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and client preferences.
The role of Kitchen Assistant offers a unique combination of back-of-house and front-of-house operations, providing an incredible opportunity to learn from experienced chefs in an engaging and fun environment.
**Responsibilities:**
- Prepare food efficiently and with proper technique to ensure a high-quality product for our guests.
- Set up the kitchen with the appropriate equipment for hands-on classes and events, keeping everything clean and functional.
- Prepare mise en place for workstations, including measuring, washing, and prepping ingredients and equipment.
- Review recipes, lesson plans, and pull sheets to ensure all ingredients and equipment are ready and staff are prepared to welcome customers.
- Assist the Chef Instructor and guests during classes with food items and equipment.
- Answer questions from students regarding equipment, processes, and recipes, and consult the chef instructor as needed.
- Maintain a clean kitchen and prep area by promptly removing dirty dishes and used equipment, and addressing any spills or messes.
- Return clean dishes, tools, and equipment to their designated storage areas in the classroom/kitchen.
- Break down and clean kitchen areas, ensuring all equipment (pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and glasses) is properly cleaned and stored.
- Assist with preparation for multi-course catered events or public dinners.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Chef Instructors.
**Requirements:**
- Prior line cook experience is required.
- Must be available on weekends and evenings.
- Comfortable working under pressure and closely following directions.
- Friendly and professional demeanor with strong communication skills.
- Understanding of FOH operations to deliver a great customer experience.
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.

Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $17.00 - $25.00
