Company description
Joint Venture is a catering and events company founded by chef Danny Newberg in 2015. Built as a deliberate alternative to the traditional restaurant model, Joint Venture brings the rigor and craft of fine dining into homes, farms, fields, and venues — wherever a meal makes the most sense.
Danny started his career in some of New York's most respected kitchens, including Momofuku Ko, Isa, and Aldea, before serving as sous chef at Estela. Joint Venture grew out of a desire to work more directly with farmers and producers, build menus around the season, and host meals that feel like collaborations rather than transactions. More than a decade in, that approach has translated into a thriving catering business — anchored in the Hudson Valley, with a strong Brooklyn following — known for thoughtful menus, beautiful execution, and a quietly distinctive aesthetic.
Job description
We're hiring an Operations & Sales Coordinator to be Danny's right hand on everything that happens between an inquiry and a beautifully executed event. This person will own the client pipeline, build and deepen relationships with planners and venues, and help shape the next chapter of the business — including a more focused Hudson Valley calendar and a stronger off-season presence in New York City.
This is a part-time role to start, designed to grow into a full-time position as bookings expand. It's a great fit for an events professional who wants meaningful ownership, a close working relationship with a chef-founder they admire, and the chance to help build something rather than slot into something already finished.
What you'll do:
Own the client pipeline. Respond to inbound inquiries within a day, qualify and prioritize leads, send proposals and the wedding deck, and shepherd clients from first conversation through booked contract. Coordinate with Danny on menus and pricing. Keep nothing waiting.
Build the planner and venue network. Develop and maintain relationships with the wedding planners, venues, and producers who shape where Joint Venture is recommended. Conduct site visits, attend industry events, and build a clear point of view on the partners worth investing in — both upstate and in the city.
Shape the off-season strategy. Help develop a focused November–March calendar in New York City, with a target of 6–8 events. Identify and cultivate the relationships that make that calendar possible.
Coordinate with the team. Work closely with Danny and the on-site planner on event logistics, master calendars, and pre-event checklists. Work within our network of Hudson Valley-based event staff.
Be a partner in the business. Bring a point of view. Notice what's working in the inquiry flow and what isn't. Help shape pricing, packaging, and how Joint Venture shows up in the market.
Who you are:
-An events, catering, or hospitality professional with at least three years of coordination or sales experience — comfortable with weddings, private events, or both.
-A confident, warm communicator. You write clear emails. You make clients feel taken care of from the first reply.
-Organized to a fault. You don't drop balls and you build systems so other people don't either.
-Genuinely interested in food, design, nature, and hospitality. You'll be representing a brand with a distinct sensibility, and the work goes better when you share that taste.
-Based in Delaware County, Hudson Valley or NYC. Willing to be on-site for events and meetings as the season requires.
-Excited by the part-time-to-full-time arc. This isn't a placeholder gig — it's the early version of a role you'd grow into.
