Farmstand Assistant & Vegetable Grower

Location: Kent, CT
Position Type: Full-time, salaried, year-round
Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Rock Cobble Farm is seeking a Farmstand Assistant & Vegetable Grower to support year-round crop production and serve as the primary on-site lead for the seasonal Farmstand in Kent on Saturday’s.
The ideal candidate brings practical horticultural experience, retail and POS literacy, and strong written communication for newsletter and social content. They are organized, detail-oriented, and able to represent the farm with warmth and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Plant, maintain, harvest, and weigh vegetable crops for restaurants and the Farmstand under the direction of the Production Supervisor; apply organic pest controls, scout for pests, and accurately label plants.
Lead Farmstand operations from setup through breakdown, June through October; operate the Square POS system, manage the cash box, and complete reconciliation and prepare bank deposit.
Maintain accurate weekly inventories across all Farmstand product categories.
Draft and send the weekly Farmstand newsletter, create photo and video content for Rock Cobble Farm social media, and update on-site signage.
Complete the weekly closing report and generate sales reports.
Oversee tea harvesting, packaging, and labeling.
Coordinate the annual maple syrup bottling and labeling with the vendor.
Assist the Production Supervisor instructing interns and seasonal workers in the garden and at the Farmstand.
Qualifications
Two or more years of experience in vegetable production, commercial gardening, or greenhouse operations, with working knowledge of organic growing practices, succession planting, and integrated pest management.
Prior retail and POS experience, with Square preferred.
Strong written communication, with comfort using Microsoft Office Suite and Constant Contact, as well as creating social media content.
Detail oriented, with strong organizational and reporting skills, and discretion when handling cash and customer information.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and work outdoors in all seasonal weather; valid driver’s license. Our location is only accessible by car.
Prior experience on a private estate, farm, or hospitality operation is a plus.
This is a unique opportunity to support year-round crop production while serving and helping to run an established Farmstand.

Compensation
this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
