Job Summary
This position is for one person who is interested and capable of working on both sides of the organization. On the farm side, we are seeking a Farm Hand who will work closely with our farm manager to maintain the community farm for our Free Farm Stand. Tasks include soil preparation, lots of weeding and irrigating, as well as some greenhouse and orchard work. On the animal sanctuary side, we looking for someone to clean animal stalls and coops, feed and water rescued animals, maintain spaces and structures, and help with daily chores. The work can be strenuous, especially during the hottest and coldest days of the year, but also a lot of fun and always rewarding. We are looking for someone who enjoys physically demanding work outside, working collaboratively, continually learning and innovating, and has a genuine interest in contributing to their community.
Overview:
- Part-time - Four six-hour shifts a week (two on farm and two on sanctuary), year round, early mornings and a couple of evenings per week required, flexibility for picking up extra shifts is a big bonus!
- $17+ DOE; performance-based raises, paid sick time; free produce, flowers, and plants!
- Ideally two years of farm or sanctuary/animal experience
- Local to the Southern Tier region of NY and easy/quick commute (only accessible by car); relocation is not available
Required skills:
- Must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly
- Must be okay working outside in ALL seasons and weather conditions
- Must be able to follow all instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Must have strong communication and organizational skills and be reliable
- Must love all animals!

Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15.50 - 20/hr
