Rooted in wood-fired cooking and farm-to-table sourcing, we work closely with local farms and producers to make everything from scratch — sourdough, fermented and preserved goods, and seasonal prepared foods for our market. 8 Hands Farm has grown into a beloved neighborhood cafe and a expansive market operation with a loyal local following and recurring regional press. Job description
Fyr and Salt is a chef-owned cafe, market, and catering operation on the North Fork, rooted in wood-fired cooking and organic, farm-to-table sourcing. We're looking for an organized, hands-on Cafe & Market Manager to run the day-to-day so our team can stay focused on producing the highest quality food.
What you'll do:
Manage and update pricing, and input and maintain inventory in our POS system (Square).
Type up and format cafe and market menus, keeping them current as offerings change.
Build and manage staff schedules on our open days, and oversee the floor during service.
Count daily tips and handle accurate tip pool distribution.
Receive and reconcile vendor deliveries against invoices.
Keep the cafe and market running smoothly day to day — opening/closing oversight, stock levels, and a clean, welcoming space.
What we're looking for:
Hands-on experience with Square POS (inventory, pricing, and reporting) strongly preferred.
Prior cafe, restaurant, or retail management/supervisory experience.
Strong organization and follow-through — comfortable owning recurring weekly tasks.
Comfort with scheduling, basic numbers (tips, par levels), and clear staff communication.
A genuine interest in good food and farm-to-table hospitality is a big plus.
Schedule & logistics:
Full-time position
Availability required on our open days, including weekends: Thursday-Sunday with a set up day on Wednesdays.
On-site in Cutchogue, NY
Compensation:
$25-30 per hour based on experience.
30% off all prepared foods and cafe items.
