Sea & Soil is a worker-owned cooperative sandwich shop and bakery. We sell sandwiches on a sliding scale to make our food more affordable to more people while still being sustainable for us. In addition to sandwiches and bread we make cake and pastry. All of our bread and some of our pastry is naturally leavened. Beyond feeding people we are striving to build out our events programming to be a space for gathering. We are a close knit small crew!

Job description

We are a worker-owned sliding scale sandwich shop and bakery. We focus on creative seasonal sandwiches, pastry and pizza. The aim is to have every person who works at Sea&Soil; be on the track to worker-ownership. Every worker is eligible for worker-ownership after reaching a minimum days worked threshold (1 year for full time worker-owner candidates). We are a highly collaborative environment where everybody pitches in and does a bit of everything. We value communication, flexibility and creativity. You will have opportunities to experiment and try new ideas.

Job Description

• Work in a collaborative kitchen environment supporting our mission to provide quality and creative sandwiches, pizza and pastry. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Prepping food items to be used in sandwiches and pizza
• Making sandwiches
• Supporting sandwich line during service
• Baking and cooking items for sandwiches, pizza and pastry
• Being organized and cleaning your station
• Organizing fridges
• Supporting and communicating with Front of House staff
• Working collaboratively and creatively to come up with new sandwiches and pastry!
• This is a part-time position 2 to 3 days a week with the possibility of expanding to full-time in the future.

• 2+ Years kitchen experience
• Interest in food
• Interest in worker-ownership
• Willingness to be flexible with tasks and responsibilities
• Willingness to help and support coworkers with tasks
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work independently
• Cleanliness
• Ability to lift 30+ pounds
• Ability to be on your feet for 8+ hour days

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
