Position: Mobile Harvest Operations Director
Location: Hermosa, SD

Our work spans ranching, mobile harvest, partner‑ranch collaboration, and a mission‑driven
supply chain that depends on precision, ethics, and resilience.
We are expanding our mobile harvest crew and seeking a Mobile Harvest Operations Director,
who shares our commitment to sustainable food systems and environmental stewardship. Our
team harvests 20–40 buffalo each week, honoring every animal from start to finish. This role
offers the opportunity to lead a professional trade while directly supporting prairie
restoration.
Key Responsibilities
Mobile Harvest Operations
● Oversee and maintain all aspects inside the mobile harvest unit.
● Maintaining highest standards for sanitation and safety
● Setup and breakdown of mobile harvest unit at ranch locations.
● Supervise/train personnel the processing of whole bison carcasses in compliance with
state and/or federal inspection requirements.
● Maintain HACCP documentation, organic certification records, and other required
inspection logs.
● Ensure safe and efficient offloading of carcasses for transfer to the cut-and-wrap
facility.
● Foster a work culture rooted in dignity, respect, pride, and teamwork.
● Mechanical Troubleshooting in Field Conditions.
● Processing Equipment Maintenance.
Operational Leadership
● Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategies for full carcass utilization,
targeting underused byproducts (e.g., skulls, organs, hocks).
● Implement projects in a structured, sequential manner—completing one before
starting the next.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
● High school diploma or equivalent.
● Meat processing, butchery, or skinning experience OR willingness to complete on-the-
job training.
● Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to harvest sites in SD, NE, WY, MT
(travel/lodging provided).
● Knowledge of animal anatomy and basic machinery operation.
● Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and stand for extended periods.
● Flexibility to work in varied weather conditions and exceed 40 hours/week when
needed.
● Strong leadership and communication skills.
● Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
● Commitment to workplace safety and sanitation.
● Problem-solving mindset with resilience and adaptability.
Compensation & Benefits
● Pay: Starting pay $22-$24/ based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated
skills.

● Meat Credit: $800 annual meat allowance.
● Vacation: One week of paid vacation after one year of employment
