Maintenance Technician
Location: Mayer, Arizona (On-Site Housing Available)
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $18–$22/hour DOE + Housing & Utilities
About the Role
We're looking for dependable, hardworking Maintenance Technicians to help care for and improve a unique 300-acre historic campus in the high desert of Central Arizona.
This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, learning new skills, and taking pride in keeping a beautiful property functioning at its best.
No two days are the same. One day you may be repairing a water line, the next helping restore a historic building, maintaining equipment, assisting with fire mitigation projects, or preparing campus facilities for guests and educational programs.
We're building a team of capable people who enjoy meaningful work, self-direction, and being part of something larger than themselves.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on campus buildings and infrastructure
- Assist with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repair projects
- Maintain roads, fences, gates, irrigation systems, and outdoor facilities
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely
- Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Support landscaping, groundskeeping, and seasonal property projects
- Assist with fire mitigation, fuel reduction, and land stewardship efforts
- Help prepare facilities for retreats, workshops, events, and visitors
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and equipment
- Participate in team projects and campus improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Comfortable performing physical work outdoors in all seasons
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work on ladders, uneven terrain, and construction sites
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new skills and take initiative
Preferred
- Experience in maintenance, construction, ranching, farming, landscaping, mechanical work, or a skilled trade
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and equipment operation
- Experience operating tractors, skid steers, mowers, or other equipment
- Basic plumbing, electrical, irrigation, or carpentry experience
