Our mission is clear: to fix the food system at scale by reinstating flavour, nutrition and transparency, all while safeguarding the health of our soils.
Experts in sourcing flavour-first, seasonal fruits and vegetables, we work with hundreds of kitchens and some of the most exciting and influential chefs in London, New York, Paris, and beyond.
Job description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Natoora has spent two decades reshaping how chefs think about fresh produce — championing seasonality, varietal diversity, and building direct relationships with a vast network of growers.
We are looking for a Market Buyer to join our New York team — someone who thrives in a fast-moving, physical environment, knows how to build relationships on the floor of one of the world's great produce markets, and takes real pride in getting the right product into our warehouse every day.
This is an early-start, field-based role. You will be driving to the Bronx before most of the city is awake, making quick, confident decisions about what to buy, and bringing that produce back to our team in Bushwick. It takes instinct, reliability, and a genuine love of the work.
Responsibilities
Own the market run
Drive from our Bushwick warehouse to Hunts Point each morning, sourcing and purchasing produce across our range. Build and maintain strong relationships with our suppliers on the market floor — the kind of relationships built on trust, consistency, and knowing your product. Make confident buying decisions in real time, balancing quality, availability, and price.
Keep the operation running smoothly
Ensure stock levels are maintained based on sales data and projections, and communicate clearly with the team as products come in and out of season. Identify and resolve supply issues quickly — whether from transportation delays, schedule changes, or vendor interruptions. Track and reduce projected write-offs and support accounting for invoice reconciliation.
Contribute to the wider team
Report on objectives using company metrics and flag risks early with clear action plans. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to keep the flow of product consistent and the team well-informed. Support airport pickups on certain days as needed.
ABOUT YOU
- A hands-on, reliable presence — you take pride in showing up, doing the work well, and being someone the team can count on
- Strong relationship builder — you're comfortable and confident with the people and the pace of a busy wholesale market
- You are comfortable driving small trucks — this is a core part of the role
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Experience with fresh produce and a working knowledge of seasonality is preferred
- Comfortable with Excel and Google Sheets for basic reporting and stock management
- At least 2 years of experience in buying, procurement, supply chain, or a hands-on operational role
- A genuine interest in what Natoora stands for — you care about the quality of what you source
What success looks like
First 6 months: the market run is consistent and reliable, supplier relationships are strong, and the warehouse team has what it needs every morning. Stock levels are well managed and write-offs are tracking down.
6 to 24 months: you are a trusted and established presence at Hunts Point, your buying decisions are sharper, and you are contributing meaningfully to how we improve the flow of product from market to kitchen.
Compensation and benefits
$72,000 – $78,000 depending on experience, plus healthcare, dental, and vision. Staff discount on fruit and vegetables, dairy, and charcuterie from our warehouse.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $72,000.00 - $78,000.00
