Maple Wind Farm is a pasture-based livestock farm founded in 1999. We produce pasture-raised, non-GMO chicken, eggs, pork, and turkey in Richmond and Bolton, VT and operate a USDA-inspected processing facility that serves 30+ small producers in 6 Northeast states. In the field, our mission and work focuses on daily moves on pasture for our livestock while regenerating the farm’s soil and water resources. Operating our own small-scale, efficient processing unit allows us to not only strengthen our regional food system, but also maintain the high quality of our own product sold directly to customers at our farm.

About The Role
Our seasonal staff take part in the entire field-to-plate journey, from working in the pastures with diverse livestock to hands-on experience in the processing facility, building valuable skills in agriculture and professional poultry processing. Ideal crew members will possess a positive attitude and sense of humor, can remain flexible and innovative on the job, and exhibit a strong interest in regenerative agriculture.

Working with livestock, we are in close contact with the cycle of life and death on the farm, to which we like to think we bring a balanced approach of sensitivity and, when appropriate, humor.

The farm is 20 just minutes from Burlington, VT (the state’s largest city) with easy access to outdoor pursuits such as hiking, fishing, mountain biking and hunting.

Position Logistics

• Role is seasonal, from early May through late November (typically Thanksgiving week +/-). We are hiring full- and part-time staff!

Benefits

• 4-day workweek for full-time staff (10 hour days, 7 AM - 5 PM)
• Hourly Wage of $17-18/hour, depending on experience

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds regularly (e.g. two 5-gallon buckets of animal feed)
• Ability and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions
• Interest in regenerative agriculture
• Valid driver’s license required, as we travel back and forth between job sites in farm trucks
• Prior experience working with livestock or farm equipment (e.g. tractor, brush mower) are preferred but not required!
