Job description
SUMMARY:
Workman Publishing, Artisan Books, and Black Dog & Leventhal are hiring a Publicity & Marketing Manager or Senior Publicity & Marketing Manager to oversee key title marketing campaigns with a focus on our award-winning food and drink list. This is a highly collaborative role, reporting to the Director of Publicity and Marketing, and working closely with key stakeholders across the publicity & marketing department, company, and sales department.
Candidates must have 5+ years prior food & drink focused book publishing or publicity experience, strong established relationships with key media, proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment, and poise and confidence in communicating with authors, agents, media, and in-house colleagues.
This is a NYC based role working 3 days in the office (Tuesday-Thursday) and 2 days from home.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create, present and implement integrated publicity campaigns for designated lists and titles/products for 6-10 books per season, primarily focused on food & drink titles, as well as other adjacent lifestyle, design, and pop culture titles as needed
Create, implement and measure innovative publicity campaigns to grow sales, raise author/book/product profile and brand awareness
Analyze the impact of publicity on sales working with sales, marketing and editorial teams
Organize and accompany authors to publicity events, where applicable
Deliver high quality author/contributor care at all times
Liaise closely with editorial, sales and marketing team to ensure fully integrated campaigns
Deliver presentations of publicity plans at internal meetings
Pitch books and authors to media contacts and event organizers
Maintain and share market and media awareness
Build media relationships and attend seasonal media meetings
Manage title specific budgets ensuring appropriate allocation of resources, and suggest spend for campaigns
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
5+ years prior food & drink focused publicity experience
Strong established relationships with key media in the food and drink space
Results-driven, goal-focused, and able to take ownership of and make timely decisions
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
High level of professionalism and excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Broad knowledge of and genuine interest of publishing, media, and influencers in the food and drink category

The compensation range for this position is $70-$80K depending on the level of the role. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
